The CNCS designed the Bear for long range engagements as their first fire support gear. The guided mortar gives it a long reach and deadly punch. Meanwhile the twin shoulder-mounted medium rocket packs make it also useable in an assault role. The Bear was so successful that it went on to inspire the Grizzly.
The Den Mother is a command and artillery control version of the Bear. It features improved electronic warfare equipment, including enhanced communications and satellite uplink.
The Mad Dog uses a similar drive system to the Bear. While the aging gear is quickly becoming a rare sight, the Mad Dog is a common trooper gear in the WFP where cost is a major concern. Many famous pilots, such as Kyle Trudel, have piloted a Mad Dog in arena championships simply because opponents underestimate it.
The Bear and Den Mother are 43mm tall and Mad Dog R is 49mm tall (mounted on their hex bases). They are 1/144 scale as with all Heavy Gear Blitz models. Dream Pod 9 have an article on assembling this kit as it has a great number of small components.
